So sorry for the delay on the Blast this week.  I was under the weather.  I hope you are all staying healthy!!  Please see the updates below and let me know if you have any questions.

Congratulations & Good Things:

  • ERA had 6 high school students participate in this year’s Paint it Orange event, hosted by the Orange County Arts Commission!!

  • Welcome to Ms. Megan Smith - Math 8 and Math 1 Teacher!  

  • The Pattison Family has grown by two feet and our newest Baby Bobcat has arrived!  Everyone is home, happy and healthy!!

Updates:

  • Save the Date: Saturday, October 25 = Book Fair and Trunk or Treat from 2-4pm!

  • Hearing & Vision Screenings: September 29 & October 6.  Mass hearing and vision screening will occur for the following grades and students this school year, 25-26.  Please alert Nurse Jenn if you have any questions or concerns. Any vision or hearing concerns will be communicated with parents and guardians directly. The following students will be screened:

    • Hearing Screening

    • Grades K, 3, 6, and 8 (all students)

    • Students undergoing IEP/tiered services evaluations

  • Vision Screening

  • Kindergarten (Color screening)

  • Grades 1, 3, 5, and 7 (all students)

  • Transferring students who enroll in NC public schools for the first time who haven't had a vision screenStudents undergoing IEP/tiered services evaluations

Who? Amanda Jones, a doctoral school psychology intern, will be leading this presentation. 

  • Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration:  The Spanish Honor Society is hosting its annual Hispanic Heritage Month event on October 3rd from 4-6 at the lower school.  Make sure to stop by for all kinds of cultural experiences, including music, dance, food, games, crafts, lots of prizes, and more. If you are able to assist, we currently need food donations. If you are able to contribute, please sign up here. We would love to know in advance how many guests we are anticipating, so if you would RSVP that would also be amazing. Please note that plates this year are $3.00, and all proceeds will be going to Chicuchas Wasi Girl School in Peru. One of our very own students spent the summer abroad working there and saw the meaningful work being done, and wanted to advocate for them. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you there.

  • Paint some pickleball? Parents, contact Ms. Preddy at cpreddy@enoriveracademy.org if you would like to help her finish painting the blacktop. The wet paint isn't kid friendly, but it is a very satisfyingly bright blue-- a lasting impact you will always see! We will look for a dry Friday to paint, from 2pm-4pm, with a dry weekend to let it set. Don't miss an opportunity to be able to annoy your kids at school with an, "I did that! Look what I did!"

  • Yearbook: K-8: Click here to purchase your yearbooks!! Although it says "upper school" rest-assured, it is the same yearbook for K-12. If your family owns a local business, you can purchase a business ad by clicking here! PHOTO REQUEST: K-8 students and families can click here or email yearbook@enoriveracademy.org to submit photos for the yearbook. We need pictures of extracurricular activities and hobbies outside of ERA, summer adventures, first day of school photos, and any other school-related activities. We will also need some fall-themed photos coming up!

  • Blood Drive: The Science Olympiad students are hosting a Blood Drive at ERA on Wednesday, October 8, from 9:00 to 2:00 at the high school gym.  We would love to fill all appointment slots; we need 50+ donors!  Thank you in advance. Link to Donate

Boys' Soccer - Home vs. Excelsior - no early release

XC TNAC Championship - We are hosting this event. This is also 8th-grade night if you want to come and support.

Girls Tennis - release at 2:45

Thursday - 

Girls' Tennis Tournament - Release at 11:00 (Not all girls are participating in this, though).

Friday - 

Girls Tennis - Home vs. Carolina Friends - This is also 8th-grade night and our biggest competition this season. Please come to Fairview Park to cheer them on!!!
