Bobcats ROARING with pride
The Bobcat Beacon Award is a monthly recognition given to one student in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades who shine as a positive light in our school community. This award is not based on grades or test scores, but rather on the character and contributions that make someone an outstanding Bobcat. The Bobcat Beacon shines on those who make our school a better place through their actions, attitude, and spirit.
Congratulations to Esme B (6th grade), Eleanor D. (7th grade) and Moriah L. (8th grade)!

Go Bobcats!
Digital Citizenship
Our sixth graders are participating in Digital Citizenship lessons. Recently they talked about the measured decline of adolescent mental health and the possible relationship with the increase of daily access to social media. One of the tips we talked about for protecting yourself from potential harms of screen time and social media is the simple task of limiting notifications on your smartphone so that it pulls your attention less. Here is a challenge for all families – go through YOUR device's notifications to reduce notifications that aren't necessary. Do I actually need to hear from Chick Fil A in the middle of family dinner that the new milkshake flavor is out? Yes No. Would I like to make sure I hear from my credit card company about things like security alerts or missed payments? Yes! Research does not support turning off ALL notifications or putting your phone in do not disturb settings for too long as people tend to check their phone just as much, if not more, in fear of missing something. Just limiting is the goal! Can you accept the challenge?
